Seafarer Sailing: Running Multi-Base Ops Smoothly with Floatist

Seafarer Sailing: Running Multi-Base Ops Smoothly with Floatist

For nearly 30 years, Seafarer Sailing Holidays has been a trusted name in yachting and sailing getaways. Founded in 1995 by Managing Director Chris Lorenzo—who is still at the helm today—Seafarer has grown into one of the most recognised independent specialists in the industry. They offer the widest range of flotilla destinations of any company, alongside small, friendly Beach Clubs, RYA training in Greece, Croatia and the UK, plus worldwide bareboat and cabin charters.

What sets Seafarer apart is their balance: large enough to offer variety and choice, yet small enough to deliver truly personal service. That combination has earned them one of the highest repeat booking ratios in the industry, and an ever-growing family of loyal sailors who keep coming back year after year.

In 2025, Seafarer celebrates its 30th anniversary—a milestone that speaks to their depth of experience, consistent quality, and the warm, family-run approach that makes customers feel at home from the very first enquiry.

Seafarer Sailing started with Floatist in April 2023, so is well underway to finishing their third season with Floatist. As always, using a new system required adaptation from the team, but Seafarer Sailing this process was fast, and within months their entire team was onboard with Floatist.

Industry wide, prices of charters are under pressure, but the boats at Seafarer Sailing are booked. To handle the workload, Seafarer Sailing grew its team, placing two base coordinators and a technician in every base.

For Giannis, Greece Country Manager, the challenge was making sure this larger team could stay coordinated. Turnaround days in particular can easily turn chaotic: boats arriving late, guests waiting, deposits to be handled, and a long list of technical and cleaning tasks to complete in just a few hours.

Giannis explained that Floatist has become central to their day-to-day work. The team uses it for live communication around tasks, for managing check-outs, and for keeping technical managers aligned when handling security deposits.

Since implementation, Floatist has become the backbone of daily work at every base. Coordinators and technicians now communicate live through Floatist, keeping track of check-outs, repairs, and security deposits. Instead of uncertainty about what had been done and what was still pending, there is now clarity. “Everyone is very, very happy with Floatist,” Giannis said. “We have live communication with the tasks, the check-out, the technical managers always stand by… the moment it says ‘done,’ I feel a relief.”

The core functionality, check-ins and check-outs, is a much loved and used functionality for Seafarer Sailing. Giannis highlighted how flexible the process is: the team can decide the order of steps, add photos, and choose what is visible to guests or technicians.

Floatist also helps the team focus on what matters most during busy days. For example, on the timeline, when a boat has many open issues, the timeline can be adjusted so that only the tasks that need to be done for this turnaround are shown, instead of a long list of all tasks to be done. This makes it easier for base coordinators not to get overwhelmed.

Seafarer Sailing is also starting to use Floatist for scheduled maintenance in two of its bases, Corinth and Kefalonia. Giannis explained that their fleet manager is very hands-on with pushing the team to complete the work, and Floatist supports this by keeping everything organized.

One thing that Giannis noticed in his years of experience with Floatist? Speed and reliability of the app. “The app never crashes. And it is fast,” he said, emphasizing how important this is during the season when the whole team depends on the system running smoothly.
